Oasis commenced fabrication of shade sails in 1992 and has produced more than 10,000 since that time.

Shade fabric structures are suitable for a wide variety of applications which don't need to be waterproof. The porous nature of knitted shadecloth allows the fabric to breathe and less likely to trap heat and humidity.

They are economical to construct and provide excellent protection from exposure to UV radiation.

These structures need to consider items including:

• Aesthetic appeal
• Shade protection they provide
• Fall zones for play equipment
• Other safety hazards and vandalism issues
• Structural, council permits and building compliance
• Inspection, maintenance and cleaning 

The life of most knitted shade fabric is approximately 10 - 12 years. The major cost of these structures is in the support structure and installation; the replacement of shade sails is relatively inexpensive.
