Our Projects

Phoenix Symphony Hall

Originally detailed as a planar shade sail, Oasis advised the client of the shortcomings of the design and willed the client and architect to modify the design to an anticlastic form that will stand the test of time.

Planar sails should be avoided; by their very nature planar tension panels must deflect to resist load whereas a pretensioned anticlastic surface is able to resist either positive or negative wind pressures by virtue of its shape alone. Anticlastic curvature = Stable structural form for tension membranes.

Oasis were able to overcome the challenges of managing this project in Arizona with time-zone differences, US design codes and imperial units taken in our stride.

Steelwork was fabricated in Phoenix with the fabric panel, cables and fittings air-freighted from Melbourne for the structure to be installed on-time for the new festival season.
