Corporate History

The Oasis Tension Structure story commenced in 1992.

1993 – Oasis establishes fabrication facility in Moorabbin.  

1993 – Oasis patents a new form of modular, broad span shade structure using twin catenaries. This design had many advantages over other forms of shade structures including a higher design wind speed and hail loading, less fabric deflection, and a greater unsupported span distance.

1994 – Oasis creates the corporate nursery image for Bunnings Warehouse. Oasis sails have now been installed at over 100 Bunnings Warehouse sites in Australia and New Zealand.

1994 – Oasis exports it’s first shade sails to Singapore

1996 – Peter Byrne joins Darryl at Oasis and together they found a new business with joint ownership under the name Oasis Tension Structures (Australia) Pty Ltd

1996 – Oasis establishes its corporate headquarters in Mentone, Victoria at a large, clean fabrication facility

1997 – Oasis wins it’s first Award for Excellence from ACASPA in the category of domestic awnings

2002 – Oasis launches export drive in the United States and Middle East

2002 – Oasis appoints International Tension Structures, Phoenix, Arizona as its agent in the US  

2003 – Oasis appoints Danway as its Joint Venture partner in the UAE

2004 – Oasis completes the Stony Creek Racecourse tension structure which is the centrepiece of the re-developed facilities. This is the first major coated fabric structure project

2005 – Oasis/Danway JV wins its first major project in Middle East for the design and construction of 22,500 sq.m of carpark shade at the Port of Dubai.

2005 – Oasis/Danway JV win major carpark shade structure in Oman for Saud Bahwan

2005 – Oasis is awarded the contract to build Australia’s largest tension structure, the Grand Pavilion at the Melbourne Showground’s 

2006 – Oasis wins Melbourne Business Awards “2006 Business of the Year” 

2006 – Oasis launches itself in the United Kingdom 

2007 – Oasis completes its first PTFE coated glass weave fabric project for Coles Myer

2007 – Oasis wins ACASPA and IFAI Awards for Excellence for the Grand Pavilion

2008 – Oasis wins ACASPA award for Excellence for Boroondara Sports Complex

2008 – Oasis receives ACASPA Special Commendation for shaft covers for the Northern Sewerage Line Project

2009 – Oasis wins ACASPA award for Excellence for the Monash University Strip Project

2010 – Oasis completes its 100th Bunnings Warehouse project at Kotara, NSW 

2010 – Oasis forms a new division ‘Oasis Nets’.

2010 – Oasis complete installation of PTFE coated fabric roof elements for Skilled Stadium.  

2010 – Oasis invents InTeM, a new and innovative product for insulated tension membrane applications. Designed for easy of installation, flexibility, thermal insulation and safety; this product has vast potential across a range of applications of tensile fabric architecture.

2010 – Oasis wins the Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre project to supply its first thermally insulated roof membrane.

2011 – Oasis wins the Harbourtown project at Docklands for the design and construction of 12 access way bridge canopies

2011 – Oasis Nets wins Holden Special Vehicles project to cover new vehicles at their Clayton manufacturing facility
