Penguin Parade

The Phillip Island Penguin Parade is one of Australia’s most popular wildlife attractions.

More than 22 years after its inception by Jackson Architecture, Oasis was contracted to replace the original tension structure at the forefront of the main facilities building.

With constant exposure to harsh weather from Bass Strait, this structure is a fine example of the life expectancy of PVC fabrics, galvanized cables and painted steelwork in an extreme climatic environment.

After demolition, the original fabric was tested and found to have deteriorated in line with expectation. The structure was indeed working close to its design limit.

Phillip Island Nature Parks took the opportunity to renew the steelwork, cables and fittings to ensure maximum life of the complete installation.

This aesthetically pleasing structure is one of the finest examples of original fabric architecture in Victoria. A fitting tribute to Jackson Architecture and Spacetech.
